PATNA: Indian system of governance requires immediate and drastic change. And, for that, the people should join the countrywide India Against Corruption (IAC) campaign to be launched from the historic Gandhi Maidan on January 30, said former Army chief General (retd) V K Singh on Wednesday.
Addressing the lawyers at the Bihar State Bar Council premises, Singh said the struggle for real independence was still incomplete and a movement on the pattern of freedom struggle was required to make people self-sufficient.
A complete change in this regard was needed and, for that, the policies had to be changed, he said.
He recited a poem of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar to drive home his point that equality was still elusive and the struggle to achieve that must continue. He called upon the lawyers to contribute their mite in this struggle to realize the dream of
Mahatma Gandhi's Bharat which was the rural India.
Stressing the need for change in the education system, Singh said the drain of over Rs 50,000 crore to foreign universities should be checked by establishing classic educational institutions suited to Indian society. For that, the number of quality IITs and IIMs could be increased to impart better education than being provided by the universities in other countries.
Singh said corruption had taken a cancerous form and the legacy of the British Raj continues. The programme was organized by Adhivakta Sewak Sangh.
